For those about to begin their fertility treatment, it’s imperative to understand what their body requires in order for the treatment to be a success and for them to come through the treatment in optimal health. With that in mind, we’ll focus on some of the foods our specialists recommend that you avoid during the acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Therapy treatment at our Denver clinic.
The following food items are known to increase inflammation and oxidative stress within the body during fertility treatment:
- Refined foods, processed foods and fast food, including those found at most fast food restaurants in your area.
- Flour and all flour-based products
Too much flour can deplete the body of nutrients and essential vitamins used in the reproductive process. - Moderate and high GI foods including white bread, bagels, crackers and refined cereals
These types of food are often high in sugar and therefore damaging during fertility treatment. - High AGE (Advanced Glycosylation End products)
Advanced glycosylation end products are created when sugars and proteins are heated. When ingested, these products bind to vital organs and joints causing a plethora of health issues in the longer term. - Corn, safflower, sunflower and soybean oils which contain high amounts of omega 6 fatty acids
These types of food cause an imbalance between omega 3 and omega 6, and this imbalance has been shown in research studies to contribute to cellular inflammation.
